BRENDAN RODGERS last night reacted to the possibility of the nightmare scenario where Celtic don’t have a recognised striker for their last three games of 2018 after Odsonne Edouard limped off in the first half of their victory over Motherwell on Wednesday.
Edouard looked lively and his build-up play for the penalty decision was top notch.
Unfortunately, the Frenchman’s game was cut short, and it took the wind out of Celtic Park a little as fans watched their only fit striker potentially join the injury list.
Reacting to the injury, Rodgers seemed calm but helpless, admitting there was not a great deal he could do.
“We’ll see how Odsonne is – it’s a concern when you lose any player.” he told SunSport.
“He just felt a tightness round his abductor and it’s probably a bit of fatigue.
“We’ll assess that in the next 24 hours. It’s where we’re at and there’s not a great deal we can do.
“It’s been unfortunate for Odsonne because he’s had to play a lot more games than I’d have wanted him to.
“He’s been the only real striker but we have others who can fill in. Hopefully he’ll be okay.”
Young Mikey Johnston took Celtic fans minds off of Eddie by coming on for the injured player and scoring an absolute belter.
The midfielder bagged his first competitive goal for the bhoys, and it wrapped up all three points on a night where Celtic were always in control.
