We go into this weekends tie against ICT with the very real possibility of a treble. While in one off games there’s a chance Celtic can be got cold, the renewed optimism that followed Rodgers into Celtic Park gets stronger by the day.

Yesterday, Brendan Rodgers spoke briefly about his transfer philosophy and gave a sneak peak into how the board are willing to back him if the right player comes along. The manager was unequivocal when asked if he was willing to smash Celtic’s current transfer record.

“We need players who want to take Celtic forward. Whether they are a million quid, £6m, £7m or whatever, the club know I will bring that to them. We will always push to make a signing if it is right for the club and right for the team. I don’t think there is any doubt about that.” the Irishman explained.

Currently John Hartson and Chris Sutton are joint transfer record fee holders at £6million, who were signed under Martin O’Neill.

While Rodgers won’t shy away from kicking his revolution into overdrive he is wary of spending money if it’s not the right player

“We’ve had players offered here who might sound great in terms of names, but they aren’t going to help Celtic.

“I need players who are coachable, who are hungry and have quality, whether they are experienced or not.”

The Celtic manager continues to impress as he articulates his vision for the club. Supporters are getting very excited about the next five years if Rodgers is here for the long haul.

  1. Despite the spiteful and mean spirited talk from that embarrassing little toad,Provan, I have no doubt that Brendan will give us a few years of massive success in Europe@Scotland.?

  2. Why is it that ex Celtic players working for the Media, with the exception of Chris Sutton seem to take great glee in putting negative spins on anything Celtic do?

Davie Provan, Andy Walker, Craig Burley to name a few.

Look across the city to Edmiston Drive and you will never hear an ex Hun player criticise Sevco.

Perhaps it’s their ‘way of life’, always help a fellow Brother thing, but apart from the odd disillusioned comment they appear to be right behind their favourites.

To be honest, of the 4 ex Celts I have mentioned, only Big Sutton is worth the column inches in my opinion Hexsays it as it is, doesn’t shirk and doesn’t give a fuck who he upsets Now THAT is the kind of journalism I like

I don’t have a problem with Provan, Walker or Burley passing negative judgement if it’s valid, however mostbofvthevtime invariably it’s pish that they spout
