CELTIC have named their squad for the Europa League group stages and it has three notable absences if not surprising ones.

Duo Marvin Compper and Scott Allan Parkhead fate look to be sealed after the did not make the squad which is not a big surprise but still noteworthy they weren’t even chosen as a backup option.

The other interesting omission is the exclusion of Daniel Arzani.

The 19-year-old who just joined from Manchester City on a two-year loan has been playing for the developmental squad but Rodgers said he was a bit away from challenging for a first team place.

However, some may have thought the Australian was nearer than this.

Big things are expected from Arzani but Rodgers is refusing to rush the player into the limelight too soon which could damage his progress.

Other notes in the squad – Benkovic and Mulumbu go straight in with Izzy back in the fold after a year away from the club.

Scott Bain could also taste his first Europa League group stage action in the coming months.

The Compper signing looks to be one of the worst signings Celtic have made in a while. Brendan Rodgers clearly doesn’t fancy Scott Allan at all from what he’s seen the training ground.

Here is the full squad.

  1. Call be cynical but what has Scott Allen done that makes him so unpopular. Watched him for Hibs and he was one of their top players. Very strange indeed. Why did Celtic not sell him in the window if they have no intention of using him. Is he just sitting in and picking up the wages. Either way it is nether good for the club for the player
