It would appear Lee Congerton still lacks imagination or the ability to find alternatives.

It’s being reported in RecordSport that Brendan Rodgers and Leicester are closing in on a deal for Timothy Castagne. This will be a familiar name to Celtic supporters who regularly seen his name crop up during Rodgers tenure at the club.

Castagne was a full back and someone who was seriously looked at by the clubs scouting system to bring in from Atalanta.

Castagne even told The Record back then his deal to Celtic looked certain when the club put an £8m bid in for him. However, Atalanta changed the goal posts and wanted £12m and Celtic looked elsewhere.

“In December I wasn’t starting any games and there was a £8million move to Celtic on the table. It looked like I was leaving, but the club wanted £12m and the deal collapsed.” Castagne said.

“Since then, having not played for 13 games, I played just about every other game and we qualified for the Champion League.”

Rodgers now looks set to get his man but for the Premier League club instead and it’s going to cost them upward of £20m.

The Leicester club are looking for Ben Chilwell replacements and they believe they’ve got their man.
