Brendan Rodgers has told CeltsAreHere he is leaving the issue of his starting XI being leaked on a weekly basis to the club while focusing his energy on trying to topple Leipzig and make progress in Europe.

The Celtic manager was pretty scathing of those people who have been sharing the starting XI among WhatsApp groups after Saturday’s win over Aberdeen in the League Cup. The Irishman branded those sharing the information as NOT real fans and said it was all about ego. Strangely, he never mentioned anything about the leak coming from the Celtic dressing room in the first place.

In his conversation with CeltsAreHere on Monday, Rodgers sidestepped further commentary on the source of the leaks, choosing instead to keep his attention on the team’s preparations. “I’m leaving that to the club,” he told us, making it clear that any internal discussions would be handled quietly at Lennoxtown.

The leak issue has struck a nerve among supporters, with opinions split on whether sharing inside information compromises loyalty. Many back Rodgers’ comments, noting that leaks could give opponents a tactical edge. Others, however, argue that sharing team news doesn’t lessen one’s support for the club, but agree that an internal leak raises concerns.

Celtic could take a huge step to qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League if they got any sort of result against Leipzig. But the Germans have their backs against the wall, having not won any of their first three games. They are desperate to take all three points at Celtic Park and it will be up to Celtic to not only shut them out, but also find a way to maximise their attacking moments.
