Boyata refused to sign a new deal with Celtic under Rodgers, and now it can work to the Irishman’s advantage by offering him a contract to join up with the Premier League side next term.
Boyata has made no bones about wanting to go back to the Premier League and when Brendan Rodgers personally blocked a move to Fulham back last year the defender wasn’t happy. Boyata got on with things after that and has been professional, arguably putting in his best season in overall for the bhoys. At this stage, it looks like there’s no hope of a new deal at the club with the player running down the clock.
Could he reunite with his old Celtic boss in three months times alongside his Celtic defensive partner Filip Benkovic who’s due back at Leicester at the end of this season?
