BRENDAN RODGERS will welcome most of his squad back this morning as they look to get up to speed before next months qualifiers which start in July 10/11.

The Irishman gets set for his third pre-season with the Scottish Champions and has given a stark warning to his players – ‘I’m going to work you harder’.

Rodgers knows the preparation involved and what he must do so his team can prosper again this season.

“The trophies are always brilliant, they’re there in the cupboard but for me it’s always been about seeing players improve. That’s what my strength is, I think. So seeing individuals get better, which hopefully makes the team better and should accumulate most of the time in winning – that’s the biggest thing.

“I think what we gained from this year is that when you’re not always at your best you can still win. That’s important. We had 61 games, that’s a lot of training and preparation and big-game mentality. The players will come out of this confident. As a manager I have to push them harder.”

Celtic have a busy pre-season before the SPFL kicks off in August.

However, hey won’t be joined by their World Cup stars for obvious reasons – Rogic, Boyata, Gamboa and Lustig will also be afforded some extra time off once their campaigns come to an end.

It’s another big season ahead and everyone is getting focused on another push for ten.
