BRENDAN RODGERS has told the media, Tom Rogic is likely to hold crunch talks with his International boss to free him up to play in the Glasgow Derby.

Asked if it were something the midfielder would consider, Rodgers confirmed his midfield star has a great relationship with Graham Arnold and would likely approach the manager to push through a favourable decision for Celtic.

“Tom is the type who would do that.” Rodgers told CelticTV.

“He’s got good relations with Graham Arnold, who I think was his first coach back in Australia, so he knows him well.

“The club are dealing with it behind the scenes as well.

“We’re trying to find a solution to that, one that makes sense for both Celtic and Australia.

“Obviously the player wants to play for us against Rangers, of course he does.

Celtic and the Socceroos are on a collision course after Rogic was confirmed in the Australia National set up for the Asia Cup.

The tournament kicks off early January, but Arnold wants his squad assembled after the boxing day fixtures.

This isn’t just a Celtic problem; Hibs are currently in similar talks, so three of their players don’t disappear before the Edinburgh Derby on the same date as the Glasgow.

Neil Lennon is facing the prospect of a massive derby game without some crucial stars.

We wait to hear the outcome.
