RONNY DEILA has admitted he feared Celtic wouldn’t make five in a row as his side stumbled through the season after a good first season.

Ronny spent two years at Celtic and won the 4th and 5th title in Celtic’s pursuit of 10 in a row.

The Norweigan openly admitted his second season wasn’t good enough and after being put out by a lower league Ibrox side in the Scottish Cup, he knew what was coming.

“I feared five in a row wouldn’t happen because we didn’t play well.

“That was one of the reasons I said ‘enough is enough’. The worst thing that could have happened for me was to lose the title.

“It would have been devastating if that had happened. We’d won four in a row, I spoke with Peter Lawwell and we agreed after the Rangers game that enough was enough.

“It’s sad but you have to do your job and I didn’t do it properly by not getting the best out of the players.”

Ronny with a very honest assessment but there are many fans who still have a soft spot for the former Parkhead manager.

While it may not have ended the way he would have wanted, Ronny is still immensely proud of being part of Celtic and its history.

“I’m proud of the job I did at Celtic and I am proud to be a part of their history,” he said. “I am not angry.

“I made my mistakes, I did some good things and I learned a lot. That’s the most important thing.”

  1. RD,still showing his nice man qualities and a touch of class by saying “HE’S NOT ANGRY” could easily have felt that by still winning the league,he deserved at least another season in the quest for 10 IAR.
Certainly there won’t be sense of dejavu with Brendan losing the gig after the team not performing in his second year in charge.Onwards and upwards again next season,as i fully expect thew board to back Brendan and stump up thee cash to refresh the squad with at least a couple of high profile signings to combat sevcos “attempt” at overshadowing any buisiness from Celtic, after their aquisition uf the new MESSIAH (think we heard this when the loaf and pedro took over at castle greyskull also)
