Atlanta United have confirmed Ronny Deila’s full technical staff for the 2025 MLS season, with former Rangers striker Kenny Miller joining as an assistant coach.

Miller previously worked with Deila at Al Wahda in the UAE Pro League.

The announcement comes amid swirling speculation surrounding a potential move for Celtic star Kyogo to Atlanta.

The Japanese striker has been linked with the MLS club, but no official bid has been made, and Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has reiterated Kyogo remains part of his plans.

Miller joins a technical staff that includes goalkeeping coach Elliot Parish, along with returning assistants Matt Lawrey and Carl Robinson.

Deila and Miller worked together briefly at Al Wahda, and this reunion marks a significant step in Atlanta’s efforts to rebuild after a challenging 2024 season.

While Atlanta have solidified their coaching staff, the rumoured pursuit of Kyogo remains a major talking point. Despite the MLS mistakenly publishing an article announcing his signing earlier this week, the league has since apologised for the error.

Brendan Rodgers addressed the speculation, assuring fans that Kyogo is staying put for now:

“I can guarantee you that he’ll be on the coach and travelling to Ross County. He’s certainly not in the MLS!”

However, Atlanta United president Garth Lagerwey’s comments have kept the door open for potential moves:

“There are good players available in the winter, and if we can get the two that we think are right, we’ll get them now.”

Kyogo will travel to Dingwall on Saturday, as injury-stricken Celtic look to extend their lead at the top of the SPFL.
