Former Celtic boss, Ronny Deila has led his team to glory in the states today as New York City confirmed themselves as Eastern Conference champions.

The manager did it in true Ronny aerial fashion, a last gasp winner against Philadelphia.

The former Hoops gaffer was given unfair treatment at times by the fanbase and the media who gave him a hard time at every turn. If he won, that’s what he was supposed to do, if he lost he was terrible. The Norwegian was famously cheated out of a treble with a ridiculous semi-final call going against the Hoops back when he was in charge.

Ronny went back to Norway after his time at Celtic but then got a move to the States with New York City. Since his arrival he has been building his squad and it’s paid off in a big way this evening.

We would like to congratulate the former Celtic man on his success.

  1. Unfair? Seriously?
Ronny Deila was the worst manager in our history and we won titles his incompetence! You lot get so confused between nice guy and good football coach!
He was nothing short of a disaster who set us back fifty years!
You are all doing similar with Ange! Another “no plan B” coach!

    • No he wasn’t Joe. Ronnie Deila introduced KT, Calum McGregor, Stuart Armstrong, gave Anthony Ralston his debut, signed Craig Gordon and basically laid the foundations for Brendan Rodgers. He was unfairly vilified by the media and a significant section of our support, yet was forced to work under the cost cutting constraints of the time. If your looking for worse manager candidates in our history, look to John Barnes, Tony Mowbray, Lou Macari, Liam Brady, all markedly worse than Ronnie Deila.

  2. Ange is a star guy and Celtic will do well to hold onto him for as long as possible. Ronny WAS cheated in Scotland…but sure that’s just another chapter in the biggest book in history…Scottish Football Cheats…there’s a new chapter written every week by the selection of rogues in black and in the SFA.

  3. Good on you Ronny, well done. You may not have had it all that was needed to manage run Celtic, but you weren’t given much support either by board, large sections of supporters and the dire and biast Scottish media.
But you were a committed Celt and I gave seen pictures which show you still remain so.
    Again well done.
