I have charted Celtic’s next 9 games and how I think the team should do in each of these games. If Ronny is to convince people he’s the right man for the job then Celtic must hit consistent winning form in these games.

Sat, 18th Oct Ross County Scottish Premiership 12:45 (A)

After being humbled at home by Hamilton we must get back to winning ways this weekend after the International break. There are no new injury concerns and it will be up to Ronny to rally his side to not only win but win in a convincing fashion.

3 points are a must.

Thu, 23rd Oct FC Astra UEFA Europa League 20:05 (H)

The Romanian side have yet to pick up a point in the Europa League group stages and it will be up to Celtic to continue that trend. Celtic have to win this game without a doubt or the manager will be under pressure. Celtic are currently top of the group on 4 points and a win against Astra will cement their place at the top.

Sun, 26th Oct Kilmarnock Scottish Premiership 13:00 (H)

The first home game since Hamilton beat Celtic earlier this month. Fans are getting restless with the teams lack of fight and urgency at Celtic Park. While at this moment we can’t take anything for granted this should be another 3 points for Ronny. Can you see a trend appearing…

Wed, 29th Oct Partick Thistle League Cup 19:45 (H)

While the League cup would be nice to win this isn’t a high priority for Celtic. Fighting battles on 4 fronts you have to make sacrifices and this is a game where some fringe players should maybe start. If Ronny were to lose this game I wouldn’t hold it against him but ideally Celtic fringe players could do the business.

Qualification to next round

Sat, 1st Nov Inverness CT Scottish Premiership 15:00 (H)

Celtic were beaten by ICT back in August up in the Highlands. They ran out 1-0 winners thanks to a Eoghan O’Connell own goal. Improvement on that result is again a must. It may sound like I’m demanding Celtic win every match but these fixtures are games we should be winning. If we can’t negotiate our way  through games like this then there’s something very wrong.

The second part of the double header against FC Astra. Celtic don’t travel well as we all know. While the Romanian side aren’t seen as much of a threat Celtic are famous for making it hard for themselves. If we got out of this game with a draw I’d be happy, assuming we have won the home game.

Sun, 9th Nov Aberdeen Scottish Premiership 12:30 (A)

Aberdeen away is always a tricky game and it was Celtic’s only loss last season. Virgil van Dijk was sent off early in that game  and a wonder goal from Johnny Hayes helped the Dons on their way. While 3 points would obviously be ideal, I wouldn’t begrudge the team a draw on this occasion.

Sat, 22nd Nov Dundee Scottish Premiership 15:00 (H)

Celtic have already dropped 2 points against Dundee this season. The August encounter ended in a 1-1 draw after Celtic struggled through the game. There is no excuses at Celtic Park and no reason why we shouldn’t be getting the 3 points here.

Thu, 27th Nov FC Salzburg UEFA Europa League 20:05 (H)

The last game in November sees us playing our final Europa League group game at home. Celtic put up a great performance against Salzburg away from home and came away with a point in match day 1. This will give the team a boost and confidence to get all 3 points which should see the club through to the knock-out stages of the competition.

These 9 games between now and the end of November are pivotal in Ronny’s reign in my opinion. What I’ve wrote above is a bare minimum for the Celtic manager who now needs to help his team find a consistent winning touch. The staggered start to the season cannot go on any longer, we currently occupy 6th place in the league with a game in hand. While it has been a less than ideal start we are still in 4 competitions and if we get our act together we can do well in each of them. If Celtic’s decline continues in the league by the end of November, the board may have to make a difficult decision. But all is definitely not lost, YET.
