Celtic were beaten by Livingston on Sunday afternoon in a game where the bhoys and Neil Lennon chose to try and go toe to toe with a physical side rather than try to do what we do best – play football.

The pitch isn’t conducive to good football but there were flashes from Elyounoussi where we looked like there was joy to be had getting in behind. A dogged and in your face Livi rattled Celtic and by the looks of it rattled Ryan Christie’s cage when for an inexplicable reason the player made a dangerous lunge and was sent off for his troubles.

Livi scored early into the second half and Celtic instantly chose to hit long balls and try and compete physically with the home side. Bayo came on with Celtic looking to add more physicality but high ball from Livi and a hesitant Fraser Forster put Livi 2-0 up and crushing against the ten men of Celtic.

It’s a day where nothing went right and bad decisions were made – both tactically and individually.

An unwelcome international break will mean Celtic need to pick over the bones of this result well into October.
