In Wednesday’s episode of the “Stick to Football” podcast, football legends Gary Neville and Roy Keane delved into their rich European match experiences, sparking a particularly lively discussion about the atmospheres at Celtic and Rangers.

The conversation took a nostalgic turn when Neville recounted Manchester United’s memorable visit to Celtic Park, a match forever etched in the annals of UEFA Champions League history thanks to Shunsuke Nakamura’s breathtaking free-kick.

Naka’s stunning free-kick in 2006 sealed a 1-0 win and secured the Hoops’ place in the last 16

Neville vividly described the encounter, saying, “My first one was Celtic. We got beat against Celtic. The Japanese boy scored, and oh my God, we absolutely killed them in the first half. I mean killed them, and we just couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net, and they went and scored. What’s he called, the Japanese boy? Nakamura, something like that?”

The discussion took an intriguing turn when Neville said that Rangers had the best atmosphere, a comment that did not sit well with Roy Keane.

Keane stared at Gary as he attempted to reason why with a look of disbelief and disgust before he countered Neville’s claim, stating emphatically, “Celtic’s is a better atmosphere though.”

Neville didn’t challenge Keane’s claim, instead, he moved the conversation on.
