ROY KEANE has taken issue with Brendan Rodgers’ post-match interview after the Anderlecht defeat.

The Celtic manager hailed that it was a ‘great achievement’ that Celtic are in Europe beyond Christmas but the Man Utd Legend think it’s unacceptable.

“Really, I thought it was a shocking result, really poor performance. Brendan’s talking there about it being a great achievement. I think the key to management nowadays is to set your standards really, really low and you’ll be in the game for a long time.

“It’s just not acceptable for Celtic, it really isn’t. Losing at home to Anderlecht, come on, give me a break.”

What did Roy Keane expect Celtic to do in that group? Realistically? 3rd place was always going to be the goal and while the result was more than disappointing on Tuesday night – the target was met and Celtic have something to build on.

Imagine this guy as Celtic manager, could he do any better? I really don’t think so.

  1. Im not even going to read the piece, suffice to say Keanes a wanker who has done fcuk all as a manager. a loudmouth who feels he can bully people with his smart ass replies and short answers. I sused to like the fella, but it seems he never misses an opportunity to show how ‘hard’ he is.

  2. Like I’ll ever listen to you, a man who turned his back on his country because he wanted to sit his spoiled backside in 1st class and eat strawberries. Look what you started at Sunderland. Come on give us a break ! No one, I mean NO ONE including you gave us a chance on getting 3rd in the group. Job done. Now people like you want to have a go at our invincible manager I think not. As you’d say “come on give me a break “

  3. Total w@nker, his record in management is second to none as a failure, he has not ever earned the right to speak about Brendan never mind criticise him, get back in your hole Troll

  4. I and the majority of Celtic fans have accepted the result and the teams position in the group…Therefore it is ‘Acceptable’…so fcuk off Keeno..you’re not fit to bring Brendan his coffee..

  5. And the thing is, he is right.
Rogers is scared shitless of CL, it’s obvious. When he’s slapping his own players for the defeat it’s just ridiculous. Was he forced to buy them? Was he forced to have Dembele and Simunovic, and Lustig, and Armstrong? No, furthermore, he made an effort to have them in a team. NOW they are ‘not CL material’ and shouldn’t think of themselves too much. How about you, Brendan? Third place, yeah, that’s great, in group with PSG and Bayern. But the performance was utter shite, and it was WORSE than the last year. Last year we were great in two games against the City. This year we were relatively good during the 60 minutes in sum (at best) against PSG and Bayern. So, Rogers made his best, we are invincible in Scotland, but with him as our manager we won’t have a chance in Europe EVER. And don’t tell me that it’s completely impossible to compete against all these big teams. Let’s take Basel for instance – are they equal to Bayern, PSG, Manchester United, ManCity, Real and others? No. Are they in top 16? Yes. Maybe they got lucky with the group, but nevertheless. I don’t think Rogers would manage to lead us through their group as well, likely, he’d try to get a point or two and then once again blame everyone, except of himself.
My opinion is we will need a new manager, a better manager and then we will be able to show something in Europe. Lennon was the man, who could do the job right, but that train is gone. Who can be that manager? I honestly don’t know.
As for Keane, it doesn’t matter if he is or was a good manager. You shouldn’t be one to see that Rogers is not.

      • Conveniently forgetting some of Lenny’s results in Europe as Celtic manager Diarmuid. I haven’t heard BR stating that Tuesday nights performance and result are acceptable. Has anyone else? He simply stated that we have achieved what was our realistic target since the CL group draw was made. Am I happy with the performances outside of Anderlecht away and Bayern at home? Absolutely not! And I am certain neither is Brendan or the players.

    • bullshite, no matter what manager came in , cloosed biscuit Tin no big players , give the man money so he can buy qau
lity and see what happens, but thats not going to happen no matter what

  6. BRENDAN WAS TELLING THE TRUTH IT WAS A GREAT ACHIEVMENT , LETS FACE IT WE WHERE BEING WRITTEN OF LONG AGO , YES IT WAS DISSAPOINTING ON TUESDAY , AND BRENDAN WAS HONEST IN HIS STETEMENT , ONE THING ABOUT THIS MAN IS HIS HONESTY SO I THINK HE IS BEING RATHER HARSH ON BRENDAN , AND SHOULD TAKE IT IN THE CONTEXT THAT IT WAS MEANT , GOD BLESS CELTIC BRENDAN AND THE BHOYS , LOVE THEM WIN LOSE OR DRAW .

  7. Roy is bang on. Seems if you make any criticism of BR it makes you a pariah. This blind loyalty is not very grown up.
It was a terrible result, a dire performance and there have been many as our European standing plummets to new lows. It’s just one embarrassment after another.

  8. It seems that Rodgers is more bothered about finding and signing wingers and frontmen than sorting out the defence. All good teams are usually built from the back first, if we are to be successful in europe, he should be looking to bolster the defence first an foremost.

  9. The truth hurts, Happy we are still playing in Europe after Christmas, but to say it’s a great achievement is a load of shite, we had one good result against a poor Anderlecht team , conceded 18 goals, No home wins , Remember fortress Celtic Park , once upon a time, Far too much overplay from defenders leading to punishable mistakes, This is the way BR wants it played, Okay in The SPL but not in Europe , Different tactics needed , Hail Hail, Looking forward to February.

  10. BR likes playing out from the back but this defence were pish on Tuesday, Tierney was getting pulled into the middle letting their winger room to run riot, Boyata’s passing nearly cost us a goal and Jozo’s goal came from the winger that was running riot. Now we hear he is looking for a winger, what about bolstering our defence first. As for Keane he’s a tosser I thought that when I saw him playing and getting beat by Clyde. COYBIG Hail Hail

  11. Roy keane is fulla shit & has the cheek to slag anyone..ireland were absolutely shit in the play offs & also in the qualifiers , he was a world class midfielder in his day & is an assistant manager who can’t teach his ireland players to play football & has a serious lack of knowledge of tactics , on his watch we lost home to serbia & drew away , we couldn’t beat georgia away who are minnows & got a lesson against denmark allowing their best player to go unmarked at the aviva , so for him to rant like he did after anderlecht makes him look a twat because his country blew it in the world cup..they were top & clear & on his watch blew the lead & dropped a lot of points against minnows..he’s a hypocritical clown

  12. Brendan won’t slag his players in public.
Keane will slaughter them at every opportunity.

Guess which one will get the most out of his players?

    Keane is a thoughtless bully.
Who eventually loses every dressing room he has ever been in.
