RONNY DEILA has spoken about his talks with Celtic before taking over as manager and initially, he was lined up to be assistant manager.

After Neil Lennon left the post, Celtic were chasing Roy Keane as manager and were days away from announcing the Irishman as manager until talks between both parties broke down late in the deal.

Ronny was ready to come in to be Roy’s number two and was ready to make the move to Glasgow. When the Manchester United legend move fell through, Peter Lawwell took the decision to appoint Ronny as Celtic’s manager.

“They were asking if I’d be assistant to Keane. That would have been interesting of course. He’s a fantastic personality.” Ronny admitted.

“The idea was to get to understand the culture in Scotland and understand what the club is all and when that didn’t happen I was ready to be No.1.”

Now that would have been an interesting pair. Roy Keane’s explosive attitude and Ronny’s passion.
