There has been a lot of talk over the past four or five days about Roy Keane getting the Celtic job.

The news of Nicky Butt’s departure appeared to kick things off with Celtic fans assuming Butt was being lined up by Roy Keane to make the move to Celtic.

Top Celtic podcaster, John Paul Dykes also posted a tweet which intimated there could be some credence to the assumptions being made.

Since then, the rumours surrounding this appointment have died down.

Now, The Times is reporting the Irishman is very unlikely to be offered the job.

The newspaper cite well placed sources in Ireland who are confident Keane will not be the next Celtic manager.

Celtsarehere understand the Irishman was spoken too about the job but we aren’t clear on how in-depth those conversations were.

There’s not a massive groundswell for Roy to become the next Celtic boss. Supporters want the best possible man for the job and a guy who has spent ten years as an assistant coach after some poor spells as manager is not the answer.
