Journalist Alan Nixon looks to have cleared up the rumours suggesting that the club could try and make a move for Roy Keane as manager.
According to Nixon, the former Celtic and Manchester United midfielder wanted the job ‘badly’, however, officials at the club did not feel the same way and decided to look elsewhere.

This news would come as a relief to some with Keane being far from the preferred candidate with almost 10 years out of the managerial game.
Some may have had a rethink after what has been an emotional 24 hours on the managerial front. But, in all honesty, I don’t personally see Keane as a better candidate than the linked Ange Postecoglou.
It might not be a statement that some agree with but in my opinion, at the very least, the style of football that the former Aussie boss attempts to play would suit the club a lot better.
This situation looks to be coming to an end after months of speculation and waiting but it’s far from the ideal scenario in the end.
Roy would attract the level of player we need. The Aussie doesn’t even have the correct level of coaching badges.
He needs to play the pressing game without the ball and the possession game with it. That’s the modern game. Anything else will have limited success, and that means runners up in Scotland
The Celtic board owe the Celtic fans big time. Eddie Howe will be quickly forgotten if a serious appointment is made. If we go for the cheap option there’ll be hell to pay. We are not RIFC, we expect the best and we have been forced to accept mediocrity this past season only for our new manager to walk away at the eleventh hour. The title must come home next season and the correct appointment simply must be made.
I think this is where we will see the proof in the pudding. Would a candidate like Keane attract good players or will it be a moot point if Fergal Harkin is in place to attract talent that are good enough to play for us, on behalf of Postecoglou. We’ll know soon
