Celtic are believed to be interested in Aberdeen midfielder Connor Barron but could now face a battle to sign the 19 year old with two Serie A clubs now joining the race.

Barron broke into the Dons side last season and only recently signed a new deal which will keep him at the club until January 2024.

He has been given the number 8 jersey for the coming season with the Scotland U21 star set to play a key role under Jim Goodwin.

Aberdeen have shown through the sale of Calvin Ramsay that they can hold out for a large fee meaning that the midfielder won’t be leaving Pittodrie on the cheap if they do find it difficult to keep the young starlet at the club.

Bologna and Sassuolo are believed to be the two clubs interested [Daily Record] with Bologna set to cash in on former Jambos defender Aaron Hickey who is set to depart the red and blues for a large fee this summer after impressing during his first two seasons in the Italian top flight.

With Celtic’s current business model in place, this could well be a player that could be further developed at the club and make an impact. Ange Postecoglou recently emphasised the importance of the link between the B team and first team squad after Stephen McManus took up a new role alongside Tommy McIntyre.
