Celtic have been linked with a move for Kosovo defender Amir Rrahmani after reports in Belgium Celtic had shown an interest in the player.

According to dhnet.be, the defender who currently plays for Dinamo Zagreb will leave the club this summer for around £1.25million and there are at least three suitors for the defender.

The report claims Standard Liege in Belgium have stolen a march on the player’s signature but nothing had been concluded to this point.

Amir played 26 times for Dynamo last term, seven of those appearances coming in the Europa League. While the defender can play across the back line, he has been utilised as a left back mostly.

Our Verdict on the report.

This kind of report follows the pattern of many others. When you’re trying to get a player over in a country he might end up in, linking him with Celtic it ups his brand. In this case, a Belgian publication has made the claim with the player’s future seemingly in Belgium.

It’s not uncommon for agents to tell a few fibs to the press in order to make their client look that but more attractive to other clubs.

Celtic are in need of some new blood in defence and for better or worse they’re going to be linked with a lot of players in the market until Neil Lennon fills the positions.
