THE CELTIC players and staff met for their annual award night after seeing out a 1-1 draw in the Glasgow Derby.

After their boss had won the PFA manager of the year, it was over to Celtic to carry out their ward ceremony.

There are very few surprises with who won the awards. In full, here are Celtic’s award winners.

Player of the Year

Supporters had the chance to vote for player of the year, as they did with a few of the awards. Callum McGregor collected this one. Taking up a new role in the team, he also adapted his game, playing a deeper role. He’s been brilliant on and off the park and is well-deserving of the award.

Young Player of the Year

Liel Abada has had an excellent debut season. Arriving at Celtic at the young age of 19, he’s been an underrated contributor this season. Ange has admitted that he didn’t expect the player to feature heavily this year, but his performances have given Ange no choice. Liel has scored some crucial goals for Celtic, netting the ball 15 times this season, and assisting on 13 occasions.

Goal of the Season

Kyogo’s goal against Hibs in the final of the Premier Sports Cup was voted as goal of the season. The chip over the keeper was spectacular. It put Celtic ahead in the match, and was the goal that won Ange his first trophy as Celtic manager.

Top Goal Scorer

Kyogo picked up his second award of the night. The Japanese forward has managed to score 17 goals this season, despite his injury that saw him out for a few months. Imagine what his return would look like if he could score all the chances presented to him.

Celtic Academy Player of the Year

Stephen Welsh was the recipient of this award. The academy graduate has started 22 games under Postecoglou, most of these coming at the start of the season. In recent months, the defender has had to settle for a seat on the bench.

Celtic FC Women Player of the Year

Jacynta Galabadaarachchi received this award. Fran Alonso’s side had a pretty underwhelming league campaign but still manages to get their hands on the LEague CUp. While the men’s team were playing their Derby match on Sunday, the women eased past Hearts 2-0 and booked their place in the Scottish Cup final, giving them the chance to do the double.

Special Recognition Award

The late Wim Jansen received this award. He famously, like Postecoglou was relatively unknown when he arrived at Celtic, won the league in his first season, and stopped Rangers’ dominance. His family were in attendance.
