BRENDAN RODGERS spoke last week about not wanting to stockpile players at the club for the sake of it and bhoy, was that an understatement.

Since the summer Celtic have sent 27 players out either on a free, transfer or on-loan.

A lot of Celtic youth players have been cut along with some old familiar faces that the manager was happy to see leave.

Here is a full list of Celtic’s summer exits.

Would you get rid of anybody else?

  1. That’s the nature of the game, but we simply must bring in a defender and s striker , injuries in those areas have left us really short . I’d like a keeper too

  2. Fans are being short changed if that is all the signings to be made.where is all the money made from C L quall from both seasons and transfers out plus full season/book and now expensive tickets for europe games?there are a few senior players wont cut it in champ.league so when are this board going to open the biscuit tin

  3. De vries, gamboa and bitton can leave. With a new number 1 coming in.

And ajer and henderson out on loan for the season.

  4. I think it’s a bit misleading to include the youth players out on loan in this list. They’re out to get 1st team playing experience and will return as better players (hopefully) in 6-12 months.

  5. BR is doing his best to bring players in but there are a number of factors inhibiting his recruitment plans.

    1) Celtic don’t have the spending power in the transfer market as the top European Leagues.

    2) Point 1) also impacts on what Celtic can afford to pay players. A player whose primary motivation is money would rather go to a mid table EPL team than accept less money and play for a team in Scotland that will give them a few medals to be proud of when they retire.

    3) Champions League football notwithstanding I’m afraid playing for Celtic in the SPL probably isn’t that appealing to a player who wants to pit himself against top international players, which mid table sides in Englabd, Italy, Germany and Spain will do most weeks.

BR is working in a difficult market and he wants to add quality to the squad to improve it, not just in the short term but for the future as well. I’m sure if he wanted to splash £3-4mill for a decent CB who wanted to play for Celtic the board would back him. We just have to be patient.
