ERIK SVIATCHENKO looks to be the first casualty of the Brendan Rodgers’ ‘Revolving Door’ comments where the Irishman admitted there would be some ins AND outs this January.

Rodgers, who has already signed Marvin Compper for his defence has told current centre back Erik that he is surplus to requirements and can seek a move away from the club.

Obviously, any move would rest on Celtic getting their valuation for the player but the Dane’s agent is now active in trying to get him a move away from Celtic Park.

Erik, who was signed under Ronny Deila has seen very little game time this year due to injury. When he started to return to full fitness at the end of November, many expected the 26-year-old to come back into the fold.

However, the manager has chosen to go with Kristoffer Ajer as he reshapes his jaded looking side, leaving Erik out in the cold. Speaking about his future at Celtic, the defender knows where he stands.

Sviatchenko said: “The manager has told me to find a new club.

There have been clubs from several leagues who have contacted my agent.

These are attractive clubs, so I’m looking forward to my future with optimism.

Erik is a popular figure among the Celtic support with the Danish star embracing the club’s charitable routes with him and his family becoming well entrenched in the tradition’s of the club.

There is no room for sentimentality in football and while Rodgers respect his defender, he has done the right thing by allowing Erik to seek first team football.

If he does get a move this window, we wish him all the best.
