RYAN CHRISTIE is pleased for his former teammate Callum McGregor who has taken the role of captain in his stride this season.

After Scott Brown left the club in the summer to embark on a new journey in coaching, the Scotland internationalist was next in line to take the captain’s armband.

When Postecoglou arrived at Celtic in the summer, he assessed the squad and agreed that Mcgregor should wear the armband for the upcoming season.

As quoted by The Sun, the Bournemouth player said;

“Callum McGregor, it’s nice this season that he’s getting a bit more recognition which probably comes with the captain’s armband, he fully deserves it.

“From the time I joined, his attitude and what he brings, you saw Broony and the way he led but you saw the natural order of it and how Callum was the next in line.

“He was superb the whole time I was playing there.”

Callum McGregor has been phenomenal this season; he leads the team by example. It’s clear to see that his teammates respect him. Often, the captain is seen encouraging those on the pitch with him.

Not only has he received a new role, he now plays in a new position. In previous years, the captain has played in front of Brown in the midfield. However, he is playing much deeper in midfield this season, linking the defence to the attack.

He has adapted to his new role and position exceptionally well.
