Former Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie has joined in on the latest Instagram trend doing the rounds and it’s one that hits the nostalgia hard for Hoops fans.

The trend sees people share a photo of themselves from 2016, which is now (somehow) 10 years ago. And in the summer of that year, Brendan Rodgers had just started his first spell at Celtic, going on to lead the club to that unforgettable invincible treble.

If you told me that was five or six years ago, I’d have believed you; it just doesn’t feel like a decade ago.

Christie’s agency took part by sharing a throwback snap of him from that season, which the player then reshared to his own story. The image appears to be from Celtic’s 2-0 win over Ross County, a result that marked the club’s 14th consecutive Premiership victory at the time. Erik Sviatchenko and Stuart Armstrong got the goals that day.

Fast forward to now, and Christie is enjoying life in the Premier League. He’s playing a deeper role at Bournemouth but thriving all the same, recently being named the club’s Supporters’ Player of the Season for 2024/25.

He was a brilliant player at Celtic, and many fans still feel he didn’t get the proper run under Ange Postecoglou. But that was down to him wanting to chase a new challenge, so that’s fair enough.

His final appearance, a hat-trick of assists against Dundee under Ange, showed just how influential he could be. That performance, from the left wing, was arguably one of his best in green and white.

A proper baller then, and still going strong now.
