RYAN CHRISTIE thinks the Celtic fans angry our upset by Kieran Tierney leaving will come to terms with the opportunity he had to take in a few months.

Christie revealed most of the bhoys only found out on their day off on Thursday after getting back to Glasgow from Romania around 4am.

The lads got a vital 1-1 away draw against Cluj, but while they were doing that – Kieran was already on his way to London. Most fans knew the score on Wednesday night, the news broke before the Cluj game had even finished.

Supporters have been split over well wishes and being angry at a Celtic fan leaving the club so early in his career. However, Christie believes perspective is needed and he wishes his former teammate all the best in his London adventure.

“In a few months, when everyone looks back on this, I’m sure there will be no ill-feeling towards Kieran.” he told CelticTV.

“They will realise the opportunity that has been put in front of KT, and that he’d have been mad not to take it.

“Everyone was gutted to see him leave the club. He was a brilliant guy, and everyone loved having him in the changing room.

“Sadly, we didn’t have a chance to say goodbye to Kieran properly.

“We only really found out on our day off on Thursday, but in football you never know when it’s going to be the last time you see someone at the club.

“I texted him on Thursday night to say ‘Good luck’, and I’m sure he received many more messages.

“But we wish Kieran all the best, and he certainly deserved his move after what he’d done in the previous seasons.”

For Christie and the bhoys there’s no time to dwell on the past – they have games coming thick and fast in the next month. Games in the SPFL, Champions League and BetFred cup await.
