While international stars jetted off to represent their countries, Oliver Abildgaard stayed behind as he tried to regain his match fitness.

The player signed on deadline day on a one-year deal at the Hoops but has yet to feature for the side, despite being named on the bench on several occasions.

He’s very highly rated, but he plays a position that’s packed with quality and will prove a tricky challenge to break into.

Callum McGregor currently plays in the deep-lying midfield position, but could he drop out or move further up the park on Saturday?

The Celtic captain hasn’t been his usual self the past few weeks, with his performance standards slipping.

He’s probably in need of a rest, playing almost every minute every week for seasons. He’s set to play on Tuesday in Poland before flying back to Lennoxtown to join the rest of the squad in training.

Saturday would be a good chance for Abildgarrd to show his quality to Celtic fans. Motherwell is a decent opposition but not a team who will pose many threats at Celtic Park.

The question is, though, will Ange drop his captain or move him further forward?
