Reports are increasing regarding the future of Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis. A new transfer rumour emerged linking Celtic with the top goal scorer in the Japanese League (J–League) from last season, Thiago Santos Santana.
At this time, the speculation that Celtic and Ange Postecoglou may be looking to recruit a 29–year–old Brazilian player to take the place of Giakoumakis is nothing more than a rumour.
Thiago currently plays for Shimizu S-Pulse and is contracted to the Japanese club until the end of this year. Celtic should not need to invest a significant amount of money if they wish to acquire the Brazillian striker.
This rumour has come from left field after the deal for Cho Gue-sung looks to be completely off. Dan Orlowitz, a prominent Japanese journalist and friend of the site, is debunking the rumours.
1. The only Twitter account naming both of these players is a notorious bullshit merchant. Nobody else reporting it.
2. Sponichi reported a week ago that *Urawa* were going after Thiago Santana in addition to GG, which makes much more sense for all parties.

Celtic are currently working diligently to find a suitable replacement for Giakoumakis in the event of his departure. There are still more than two weeks left of the transfer window, and the club is keen to ensure they get the right man.
