Reports are increasing regarding the future of Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis. A new transfer rumour emerged linking Celtic with the top goal scorer in the Japanese League (JLeague) from last season, Thiago Santos Santana.

At this time, the speculation that Celtic and Ange Postecoglou may be looking to recruit a 29yearold Brazilian player to take the place of Giakoumakis is nothing more than a rumour.

Thiago currently plays for Shimizu S-Pulse and is contracted to the Japanese club until the end of this year. Celtic should not need to invest a significant amount of money if they wish to acquire the Brazillian striker.

This rumour has come from left field after the deal for Cho Gue-sung looks to be completely off. Dan Orlowitz, a prominent Japanese journalist and friend of the site, is debunking the rumours.

Celtic are currently working diligently to find a suitable replacement for Giakoumakis in the event of his departure. There are still more than two weeks left of the transfer window, and the club is keen to ensure they get the right man.
