FORMER CELT Davie hay believes Brendan Rodgers not winning PFA Manager of the year was a ‘scandal’.

Davie took to his Evening Time column to vent his frustration at, what was, in his eyes, the wrong decision.

I think it was a scandalous decision not to give the Manager of the Year award to Brendan Rodgers by the PFA.

I have no quibble with the work that Jack Ross has done at St Mirren – his team have been excellent – and I think Steve Clarke and Neil Lennon have both been notable for what they have done and how they have punched above their weight this season. But really?

Jack Ross won St Mirren promotion and in doing so won the vote to become PFA Manager of the year. With Celtic on the brink of a double treble, it’s going to look ridiculously stupid if Rodgers team wins it and he wasn’t made Manager of the year.

There was an argument for many managers, of course, but this year, in particular, there was a clamour to make sure that it didn’t go to the Celtic manager because of the resources he has at his disposal.

We all should know by now, it takes more than resources to win everything in your wake for two years running.

  1. A massive well done to Jack Ross, But this had to be said. Brendan Rodgers on the brink of a double treble and doesn’t get manager of the year. I can’t see any other league in the world not recognising that achievement. Bigoted Scotland living in the past. Brendan doesn’t need the trophy, it just makes us grow stronger. The grandbairns have already been told of the legends of Celtic, the injustices they endure year after year and right from wrong.

  2. Good luck to Jack Ross though. St Brendan wouldn’t mind at all, Maybe if he had the chance he would vote for him. St Brendan does things in the style of the all conquering Sean Fallon. Medals, cups, victorys, are great.
The respect of all you assist in life is a much greater reward.
