Scott Bain has this afternoon spoke out about position as Celtic number one and how he believes the lack of continuity in the goalkeeping position may have effected the Hoops this season.
Speaking ahead of tomorrow evenings game again Kilmarnock in today’s press conference, Bain was asked if the constant chopping and changing in net has had an effect on the team this season, answering honestly around the situation.
“Possibly. It’s probably difficult for the goalkeeper. It’s probably difficult for the team. That’s why I’m saying now hopefully I can put together a run of games, we can get some continuity and understanding.
“Hopefully for myself, I can build confidence, start making the right decisions in games each week as it goes. For me, it’s the old cliche of one game at a time.
“If I can put a run of games together and start building confidence and get back to the levels I’ve performed at before, I know I’m capable of staying in the team.”
The goalkeeping situation at the club has been handled in an extremely poor manner this season, whether that be Bain, Vasilias Barkas or Connor Hazard.
None of the three has particularly stood out when they have been placed in between the sticks but at the same time with all the constant changes it would be hard to do so.
At this stage, you just have to pick one and go with them from now until the end of the season and for me, that man should be Barkas. You’ve paid the money, so with the season all but over, give him that run in the team to show what he can do.
