Scott Bain has stated that he and his teammates are more than ready for the pressures they are set to face in the up and coming season, going for a record 10th title in a row.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the stopper spoke about how the team are ‘chomping at the bit’ to get back into action.

“The players have shown that they’re more than capable of handling any pressure that gets put on them. For us as a squad, we don’t read into what’s anyone else is saying. We just know that, if we do the job we set out to do, and do it to our full ability, then we can come away with three points.

It might sound like a cliché, but it’s a marathon, not a sprint. We always focus fully on one game at a time, and, if we can play the way we’re capable of, we can ignore the outside noise.

The boys are really chomping at the bit to get back into it, given the way last season ended. Right now we’re all really focused on getting back into it and excited to get on the pitch and start the season off as well as we possibly can.

Currently, there are only two first-team goalkeepers at the club, Scott Bain and Conor Hazard. So as we approach the beginning of the new campaign, it’s good to see that Bain sounds ready to take over as number one for the time being.

With it looking increasingly unlikely that the ever-popular Fraser Forster will be returning to the club, the 28-year old now has some big gloves to fill. He might be peeved so many people are overlooking him and have a point to prove.

We will get our first glimpse at the team, for the first time in five months on Thursday, when they take on Nice in France, as the hard work continues in the build-up to such an important season in the club’s history.
