SCOTT BROWN has told Celtic fans it’s time to get over the hurt feelings that came about after Brendan Rodgers left the club without notice in February.

The Irishman shocked the whole fanbase when he took the Leicester job with just three months of the season left to go where he could have landed a historic treble treble.

However, it appears from the outside that he jumped at the first decent offer back in the Premier League leaving many fans feeling betrayed – especially when he would tell us of how much Celtic means to him.

Many accepted that the manager might not stick around past this season as friction with the board looked obvious but nobody envisioned he would cut and run so quickly.

Now just over two months detached from his hasty exit, Scott Brown has lifted the lid of his relationship with Rodgers since he left and why Celtic fans should be thankful for what he did for the club.

“Yes, I speak to him quite a lot.” Brown told SunSport.“We just speak in general . . . the way his team has been playing, how I am getting on, how he is getting on. It’s just mates chat, really.

“That won’t change. For me, Brendan’s reputation is unbelievable.

“He came in for two-and-a-half years and I felt lucky to have a manager of his quality who left Liverpool after coming to within two games of winning an English title for the first time in so many years.

“So for him to come to Celtic was just fantastic. And the only reason we really got him at Celtic was because he was a diehard Celtic fan.

“He has gone back down the road now and we should just wish him all the best and go from there. We wouldn’t have had the double Treble without him.

“We wouldn’t have the opportunity to be eight points clear when he left, with the chance of another Scottish Cup as well. For me, he was a genius when he came in.”
