Ever Rangers’ nemesis and wind-up merchant in his playing days for Celtic, Scott Brown has served to further rile Ally McCoist live on the radio this morning.

TalkSport broadcasted live from Ayr Racecourse today ahead of the weekend’s Scottish Grand National.

As he is head coach of the town’s local club – Ayr United – Hoops legend Brown stopped by for a flying visit.

McCoist reminded the 38-year-old that they had both won the same number of Scottish titles, but he soon gained a brilliant reaction from Brown when he mentioned the Old Firm. “Isn’t it the Glasgow derby?”, the Parkhead legend promptly replied (TalkSport via SunSport).

During his time in a green and white jersey, Brown played in his fair share of derbies. He rarely lost post-2016, spearheading a period of sheer dominance over Rangers.

The now Ayr gaffer is adorned by the Celtic fans who are closely monitoring his progress on the West Coast.

So far, the quadruple-treble-winning skipper has done a respectable job; he has the Honest Men sitting nine points above the relegation play-off spot with three Championship games to go.

He remained coy when asked if he wanted to take to the hotseat at Celtic one day, but it is a sight much of the Parkhead faithful would be eager to see.
