Former Celtic captain Scott Brown’s Fleetwood Town defeated Championship side Wigan Athletic in the Caraboa Cup last night.

This was Brown’s second win in a row as Fleetwood boss having managed his first competitive win at the weekend against Plymouth Argyle with former derby rival Joe Garner bagging the winning goal.

It was a different Garner who made the difference for the Cod Army last night as Brown’s side progressed to the second round of the tournament.

After tonight’s remaining fixtures, Fleetwood will learn their fate for the next round of the cup where they could be drawn against a Premier League side with all remaining teams who never qualified for Europe entering the draw.

Some of the big hitters this will include will be the likes of Newcastle United, Everton and Broony’s former Celtic gaffer, Brendan Rodgers side Leicester City.

The former Scotland international has proven track record of winning in football and will be hoping to dream with Fleetwood Town as the early part of his tenure begins at the League One side.

Next up for his side is a visit to their local rivals Morecambe at the weekend which promises to be a tough game. He will be hoping to continue the winning form.
