While Celtic were winning their game last night, a certain club across the city was of course watching.

Their social media feed called for consistency in refereeing decisions remarkably during the Celtic game.

It was their official club feed which quoted their manager’s idea of consistency; referring to when their striker Alfredo Morelos was allowed to stay on the pitch to score the winner against Hibs and then be punished for a blatant stamp. They were trying to insinuate a decision should have been made on Scott Brown.

The issue brought up last night was if Scott Brown landed an elbow maliciously during the Kilmarnock game.

A panel of Sky Sports pundits and an ex-referee had their say and nobody, including Charlie Adam thought it was violent conduct and worthy of a sending off.

Former whistler Dermot Gallagher said:

“It’s is a bit high, like Dermot says, so he could have got a yellow card but not a red card.

“I think these things happen in football all the time, when you just stop him or push him off or whatever.

“So for me there was not much in it.”

Charlie Adam said:

“I think if you look at Scott Brown, he has a look at him to see where he is.

“Like you do at any throw-in you put your arm to protect, see where he’s going and try to block the run.

“I think he just maybe runs the risk of giving the referee and opportunity to send him off if he sees it correctly.

“It’s a difficult decision.

“Would I have been surprised if he’d been sent off? Probably not, but it would have been harsh.”

Comparing a dangerous stamp to what Scott Brown was accused of doing is simply blinkered behaviour. It’s crazy to think the club at the top of the league is still obsessing over Celtic when they have gotten the better of the Parkhead side this year.

It’s almost as if it’s not about them winning, but us losing. Hmmm…
