Many people, including myself, wrote Scott Brown after last season. The player looked tired having been through so many battles in a Celtic jersey. Capitulation in the semi-final at Hampden last year looked like the final embers of Scott Brown’s contribution to Celtic.

However, nobody told Scott this!

Since Brendan Rodgers has taken over the midfielder has enjoyed a new lease of life under the Irishman, replicating form we haven’t seen since Strachan and early Neil Lennon taking charge. His two stand-out games of the season have come in Europe with his passing and drive in the Hapoel Be’er Sheeva home leg and recent Man City game shining a light on how pivotal he can be for the club when he’s on form.

In the Man City game the player made 46 passes, completing 42 of them with many of them being over 20-yard passes on a wet and windy night in the East End. No easy task when you’re taking on a side with a budget as big as Man City’s. Not to mention playing with Joey Barton in his back pocket during the 5-1 gubbing of the newly promoted Ibrox side.

The player has been with Celtic since May 2007 and he looks set to be at Celtic Park for 10 years earning him a testimonial next season. Something that’s becoming rare in today’s game where players hop from one team to the next.

I hope he goes from strength to strength this season and drives the team forward to as much success on the pitch as possible.

Hail Hail Broony!
