Scott Brown Makes Scott Sinclair Claim

SCOTT BROWN has been paying homage to his former teammate Scott Sinclair after the Englishman’s Celtic career came to an end in the January window.

Having been frozen out of the side this season, the writing was on the wall before the transfer window. The previous three years Scotty had been in the think of things but rarely made the bench never mind the starting XI this term.

A move to Preston came up and he and the club thought it was best they both pursue it.

The result was the Englishman ending his time at Celtic in quiet fashion.

Now a Preston player, Scott Brown has hailed Sinclair for his time at Celtic and his contributions to the cause over the past three years. There’s no denying the winger had been instrumental in the success which the club has had over the past three years.

“I spoke to Scotty just as he was leaving. It’s sad to see him go, he was fantastic for the club, but he wants to go on and get games and that’s totally understandable.” Brown told the Celtic View.

“The way it’s been more recently, he wasn’t getting as much game-time here, but these things happen in football.

“For him, it’s a great opportunity, and now he gets to go back down to England, be a part of something new and I’m sure he’ll thrive.”

Brown made the claim how good Sinclair was in his first season, perhaps alluding to the drop off in performance in season 2 and 3 – even though his stats were still very high.

“What he did for us at Celtic was outstanding, and in that first season he was frightening.

“He won Player of the Year during his time here as well, which shows how much of a top-quality player he was for us.”

Celtic start life officially without Scott Sinclair this weekend when they take on Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup.
