All the talk for the past few months has focused on records. Since beating the 100-year-old British record previously held by Celtic also, some pressure can come off the history makers as every win becomes another notch on the belt of the Invincibles.

Brendan Rodgers Celts are sure to fill your ears and eyes with record-breaking for the next while but we’re going to look at some other records Celtic currently hold.

Celtic currently hold a world record for a total number of goals scored in a season. In one season, a very important season the club managed a remarkable 196 goals in all competitive competitions. (season 1966-67)

Remember season 2001 to 2004 under Martin O Neill and Fortress Celtic Park? Celtic went on to create a league record for an unbeaten run of 77 home matches.

Between the years 1964 to 1978, the hoops managed 14 consecutive League Cup final appearances, this is a world record for successive appearances in the final of a major football competition.

Maybe we should have put this first, but it’s all good reading. Celtic hold a record for the highest score in a domestic British cup final. That’s when they beat the old Rangers team 7-1 in 1957. It was also sunny that day.

Remember Mark Burchill was going to be the next big thing at Celtic? Well, it was for good reason, Mark currently holds the record for the fastest hat-trick in European Club Football. Burchill put the ball in the net 3 times in 3 minutes against Jeunesse Esch back in 2000.

Last season Celtic equaled a Scottish record for winning the SPFL title while they still had 8 games remaining. The original record was from 1929.

Coincidently, I seen this next game on my newsfeed only yesterday – Celtic hold the record for the biggest margin of victory (In Scotland) when they battered Aberdeen 9-0. I think I seen Stokes and Hooper knock out a hat-trick each in that game.

Celtic hold the record for the highest transfer fee paid between two Scottish clubs. They paid £4.4m for Scott Brown in 2007. We think it was money well spent, Scott Brown holds a few records himself which we will come back to.

Sticking with transfers, Celtic are also responsible for the most expensive export from Scottish football, they sold big Victor Wanyame for £12,500,000 to Southampton back in 2013.

The current record-breaking run the hoops are on will be written into the history books and remain there for a very long time. Scott Brown holds the record for most European appearances, a record he is still currently adding to. Brown has 82 European games under his belt for the hoops. He long surpassed Kenny Dalglish who amassed 68 games for both Liverpool and Celtic.
