SCOTT BROWN lifted the lid on the kick-off at Ibrox that took everyone by surprise.

Odsonne Edouard did the honours and instead of passing the ball back to his teammates he launched it into the corner of the Rangers half, hitting it out for a throw-in.

It was a tactic to throw the opposition off and while it surrendered possession it gained Celtic territory early on.

Scott Brown knew the bhoys were to press straight away but he didn’t know the Frenchman was instructed to kick the ball out of play.

Looking back on the game, Scott Brown remembers vividly what he said to Edouard after the kick-off had been taken.

“I turned around and said, ‘What the f*** are you doing, Odsonne?’.” Brown told RecordSport.

“I said to start by pressing them up the park. I wanted the ball to come back first but my French is not what it used to be!

“It was the first time we’d ever done it and we got something from it. It was a wee change.”

The tactic has been much talked about since but I think most fans watching at the time were wondering the same thing.

We have seen Hearts do this to Celtic twice and get absolutely nothing from it. At Ibrox, the bhoys gained territory and began to press, setting the tone for the entire match.
