SCOTT BROWN revealed he turned down the chance to go to Rangers and opted for Celtic because of a sit down meeting with Gordon Strachan.

The midfielder was hot property ten years ago with a number of Premier league clubs and old Rangers looking for his signature.

The Ibrox club famously thought they signed him to the point they chanted his name from the stands and their biggest cheerleader fanboy Derek Johnstone declared him for the peepel.

Unfortunately for them, Scott had a head on his shoulders.

“I had a couple of offers to go down to England. I had an offer to go to Rangers and an offer to come to Celtic.

“For me, I sat down with the managers and coaches once the bids were accepted from Hibs.

“I sat down with Gordon and me and Gordon connected really well.

“He believed in me and he wanted to build the team around myself, Aiden McGeady and a few of the younger ones that were coming through like Stephen McManus, Darren O’Dea and he was bringing in Scott McDonald as well.”

Scott Brown will go down as one of the greats at Celtic Park. Broony has mixed it with some of the greats from Messi to Pirlo – it’s safe to say he made the correct decision.

The midfielders testimonial at the end of the season will feature the Republic of Ireland with proceeds going to a number of great causes.
