Scott Brown has come out and defended his teammates after Neil Lennon threw him under them under the bus in the aftermath of Champions League capitulation.

The bhoys went out to the Hungarian champions on Wednesday night and Neil Lennon cut an angry figure after the game.

Given the team selection, the manager’s response should have been him taking all the blame for the performance. He did say it was on him at the end of the day but then said some of the players don’t want to be here.

Scott Brown refutes those comments and believes the manager has got it wrong on this occasion.

“For me, the lads want to be here.” Broony told RecordSport.

“I don’t know what people have said to him individually, to be perfectly honest.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if they want to be here or not, once they go on that park everyone gives 100 per cent and that’s what the gaffer demands.

“It wasn’t the best performance. We’ve dominated the ball, but we’ve not been clinical enough in front of goal and we were a little bit sloppy with the two goals.”

It’s quite disconcerting that our captain is more measured than our manager. We know Neil lives and dies for Celtic but you have to be professional and remove yourself from your emotions. We were all gutted on the night but the manager has to take the flak and if he has a bone to pick in the dressing room, that’s where it should happen.

  1. Sounds like a bit of turmoil going on, and definitely not needed when what’s at stake come the end of season! Cannot understand team selection, no out and out striker on the pitch and two sat twiddling their thumbs on the bench? Lennon must be blamed for team choice and his tirade on camera, needs sorted asap or forget ten in a row HAIL HAIL.

  2. I wonder if any of the players Lennon said don’t want to be here were selected for last nights game. After all he’s the big shot who picks the team and who is paid to motivate them or maybe it could be he de-motivated them by his attitude as he did at Hibs. That apart this ten in a row business is getting in the way of Europe. I’m sure the club would rather have 30 million in the bank than 10IAR. The man is too volatile. He was just telling us last week how proud he was of the team after winning 1-0 at Dundee U.

  3. Yes needs sorted but players need to show they are men and kick on from this Scott Brown should hold his hands up running around like a headless chicken looked out of his depth all game but so did a few others they looked unfit..

Get this sorted and move forward as one manger and staff and players act like the pros you say you are be on it do it…

  4. Lennon took the blame for selection last night its the first thing he said. He never through anyone under the bus, he called out the players who are going through the motions.
He’s 100% right anyone wanting a move, now is the time to make it known. We need every player pulling in the same direction if some aren’t they need to go.
Brown never set anyone straight, he said he didnt see players who wanted to leave, no one has said to him they wanted out but that’s not to say they haven’t said it to the manager.
The Neil Lennon bashing has been a disgrace today from so called Celtic supporters.
