THE SPFL has informed clubs that Sky Sport’s bid to show Scottish games has been passed, with the deal worth £150 million.

It was reported last week that The Rangers would object to the deal, still fuming over the cinch sponsorship and all that that entailed.

Livingston still hadn’t agreed to the deal at that point, but the Daily Mail reports that the SPFL has given Sky Sports the green light.

The West Lothian club now support the deal, and it’s been passed with 11-1 in favour.

Payments to Scottish clubs are set to rise from £25 million to £30 million, with the broadcaster allowed to select 60 games a season to show on its channels.

As poor as the deal is, it’s the best we’re going to get at the moment. It does undervalue the Scottish game, a league with two teams in the Champions League group stages.

It’s disappointing, to say the least, but it was never really in doubt that Sky would receive the rights and continue to undersell the Scottish game.
