Former Celtic striker turned pundit, Frank McAvennie has strongly claimed that the club should sell summer signing Albian Ajeti in the coming months.

Speaking to Football Insider, McAvennie believes that the Swiss striker is simply ‘not good enough’ to be a Celtic frontman and insists that the club should look to recuperate even half what they paid for the former West Ham and Basel striker.

“I’m a striker and I look at strikers. I Look at Ajeti and for me, no. He’s just not good enough. He’s had enough time and I’m looking at Ajeti and thinking ‘you’re on big money’. At least sprint, at least do something. He doesn’t even get involved in the build-up.

“Jonjoe Kenny is firing balls across and he must be furious because it’s terrible for him that people aren’t there for him, he’s a striker’s dream.

“He needs to go and Celtic should accept even half of what they paid for him.”

Ajeti first got off to a flyer in his first few games for the club but has suffered a lot from fitness and injury issues for the majority of the season.

For me, there is something there with Ajeti. He has qualities that we haven’t really played to this season or seen all that much for various reasons.

The 24-year old is one of the players that we signed last summer, I would be willing to give another chance going forward under a new manager to see if we can get that ability that he has shown in spells at not only Celtic but other clubs in Europe, to work in our favour.
