SFA Chief Ian Maxwell has stepped in ahead of a vital vote on Monday evening that will shape Celtic’s youth setup next season.

Edinburgh News report Maxwell has been active in giving assurances to the Scottish Lowland league as they get set to vote on Hearts inclusion in the setup. Celtic B and Rangers B both played in the league last season with an overwhelming feeling it went well.

The pair were already voted in for another season but with Hearts looking to bring a B squad into the league, it’s thrown up issues that have now seen the Lowland league consider Celtic’s continuing participation.

The rumours have been Celtic and The Rangers have had the Jambos back in discussions and claims of an ultimatum they will pull out if Hearts aren’t admitted has thrown a spanner in the works.

The clubs vote tonight — but since Maxwell’s intervention it’s now looking positive for Hearts and Celtic’s participation next term.

The lowland league do get financial benefits from the clubs participation and would miss out on any submission fees should they vote against Hearts.

It’s a peculiar situation and as always – we’ll keep you in touch with what happens when the vote takes place.
