Reports today have claimed Celtic will let their defender Hatem Elhamed go in January if they can find a replacement for him.

SunSport report the player has become very homesick, his young family are still back in Israel while he tries to navigate Glasgow during a pandemic on his own.

It’s understandable and the club will sympathise with the player.

Our verdict

The player had a lot of injuries but showed enough in his first season to think he could come good. This term, nobody has covered themselves in glory but the defender’s wastefulness and decision making have been poor.

The club’s current problems along with home sickness will not be doing him or the team any favour. If true, he should be used sparingly until January.
