It has been reported this afternoon that Brighton and Republic of Ireland defender Shane Duffy has expressed that Celtic is his preferred choice of move when he leaves Brighton and Hove Albian.

According to the Athletic, Duffy would like to make the move to join his ‘boyhood heroes’ but last nights Champions League exit could offer a setback for the Scottish Champions.

Earlier in the many speculated that the 28-year old was close to joining the Hoops, with his brother also posting a picture of the club crest on his Instagram.

It was later revealed though, that the defender was in fact in Scotland but for very different reasons. He is in the country for pre-season training with his current club, as they begin preparations for the 2020/21 Premier League season to begin on the 12th of September.

Many fans have been excited at the speculation linking the club to Duffy. He looks like the sort of central defender Celtic need at the moment, so fingers crossed come October 6th he is wearing the green and white hoops.
