Celtic are interested in bringing Shane Duffy to the club this transfer window but the move may prove tricky.

If it’s down to Shane, however, the player might just fancy a season in Glasgow.

According to his former Blackburn team-mate, Paul Robinson, the Irish defender would find it too hard to turn down Celtic given his Irish heritage and family background.

Speaking to Football Insider, Robinson said:

“He’s a good, solid talent and he’s a threat on set-plays.

“I think there’s been a link with Celtic, and with his Irish heritage, I think Celtic would be a real big draw for him.

“I played with Shane at Blackburn, and with his background and his family, I think that would be too much of a pull for him to go and play at Celtic.”

Celtic are looking for a solid defender for this season, it would make life easier for Neil Lennon if he had another top centre-back to call upon if he wanted to go 3-5-2 at any point.

The bhoys were in good form on Tuesday night against Icelandic side KR Reykjavik. Celtic put six past their opponents inside an empty Celtic Park and cruised through to the next qualifying round of the competition.

If Duffy does come in, he could potentially be playing Champions League football with the Hoops.

  1. Let’s make a splash with Brighton and try to get another player that doesn’t fit in to their plans, like, Andone, Jahanbakhsh, (check out videos) etc., with Duffy and cash in exchange for Odsonne Edouard.
