We have seen the last of Shane Duffy at Celtic. The defender has been sent back down south to Brighton after an injury ruled him out of playing or sitting on the bench for our final two games according to SunSport.

Shane came up hoping to make an impact but he was so nervous looking and error-prone.

He started well, scoring for the bhoys on his debut in a 5-0 rout of Ross County in Dingwall.

From the first Glasgow Derby onwards, the Irishman looked out of his depth and made some massive errors on the field.

Shane’s last proper run of games came in January while his overall last appearance for the club was a 2-1 win against St Johnstone on February 14th.

Duffy now heads back to receive treatment for his injury. His future might be away from Brighton but there’s no chance of a Celtic reunion in the summer.

The lad is a die hard Celtic fan but things just haven’t worked out well for him in Scotland. The passing of his father recently before the move should also lend some context as to why his head might not have been totally in the game.

We wish Shane all the best for the future,

  1. Without a shadow of a doubt, the worst signing in our history.

Even though it was on loan, cost us a fortune in wages (and goals) and looked like an average Sunday pub league clogger
