The massive morning headline in Scottish football is Hibs have sacked their manager Jack Ross following a number of disastrous results in the league.

Hibernian got a third placed finish last year, but have struggles so far this campaign. Ross guided Hibernian to Hampden twice last term only to be humbled in both game.

The manager was on course to lead his side out against Celtic on Sunday, December 19 at Hampden when the two clubs go head to head for the first piece of silverware of the season – we now know that won’t be happening. It’s a bit of a shock considering many thought he would get the cup final but the defeat to Livingston on Wednesday night was enough to see him make his Easter Road exit.

Instead, Hibs are likely to have either an interim boss or a new permanent manager for the game at Hampden.

It’s a strange one, Celtic can capitalise on the instability at Hibernian but their opponents could also get a lift from a new managerial appointment.

Also not knowing how they will set up under a new boss adds to the unknown for the hoops.

It’s another intriguing layer for the League Cup Final and Ange will be concentrating on his team more than anything.

  1. Constant sales of his best players and up and coming talent, Certainly never helped.
And red cards galore defending neither. But that’s the norm at Easter road.
