Callum McGregor was subject to a wild lunge against Hibs on Wednesday night.

Ryan Porteous came crashing into the Celtic captain when there was no need for the defender to leave his feet.

The Hibs defender was just back from a suspension he picked up at Ibrox for a very similar lunge. On this occasion, there was no red card.

I think the referee has decided it’s not a red simply because Callum didn’t go down.

The similarity of both tackles is striking and the fact one resulted in a red at Ibrox while the other only warrants a yellow adds to the frustration we have with referees at the minute.

If you want to know how horrible the challenge was, take a look at Callum’s leg.

Celtic won 3-1 on the night and were good value for their victory.

The Hoops cut the gap at the top to just two points and could head to the summit of the SPFL with a win this weekend.

  1. The referee had a terrible game, not for the first time. He’s one of many in our game that is not up to it. VAR will embarrass them and the sooner it’s introduced the better.

  2. VAR will still make honest mistakes especially agaist our club celtic because the corrupt officials know that sevco need the money to survive our go bust yet again what we need is the cowards on the board at paradise to open there mouthsbut as we all know some on our board are even denying the LIQUIDATION of rfc 1872 so i think these clowns thing that the celtic fans are daft so its about time we let these cowards know we want them removed now.

  3. Porteous is a disaster. His tackling is pushing refs into a position that he’ll be off week after week if HE doesn’t reign himself in. Let’s see what he does if he gets a bad un! Those stud marks prove he is dangerous and refs MUST protect players from this type of tackling. Robertson the cheat, gives him a yellow.
No use asking Robertson, Beaton, McLean, et all, for protection, they are too busy helping the ragers with easy penalties, and gifts, for their klan pals. Knobs!
